Howdy, Girl6! That is an example of PMD or post mint damage. Damage such as this I refer to as a ' Dryer Coin'. I'd keep it as the coin that got me interested in coin collecting.

 To CCF! Yep, unfortunately, both are PMD (Post Mint Damage) and are worth face value.
