Crazyb0 Rest in Peace 10197 Posts	Posted 01/13/2018 02:21 am Not familiar with coin but that does look like a broken collar effect with the rim upset affected that way, or possibly a strike on a broken feeder?. As described on the RAM (Royal Australian Mint) website the edge is "Interrupted Milled" From RAM website Nominal Specifications Composition: 92% Copper - 6% Aluminium - 2% Nickel Shape: Circular Edge: Interrupted Milled Mass: 6.60 grams Diameter: 20.50 millimetres Report this Post to the Staff

That's because the collar has been damaged in that area. It is a machining error, unusual so it may have some value, but as Mark1959 say, "Don't quit your day job!". Not worth a lot, but is interesting because it doesn't happen that much. The collar is the portion that surrounds the coin so when pressed the edges form. If the surfaces have been mangled which appears to be here then that damage would be impressed into the coin's edge. Report this Post to the Staff
