No, as most of the color is coming from the natural toning....which acetone won't effect in any way.

That color is typical of being exposed to a tobacco smoking environment.

I was just thinking if I came across a quarter like this one, that crud on the rev. could/would clean up nicely with acetone without damaging the coin. That toning seems to have a smoky/hazy nicotine tarnish look to it that I thought might come right off. I was wondering if the coin was slabbed like that or it grow on the coin over time. If it's baked into the surface, forget it.

With that said, I am getting ready to finish up my Washington Dansco with all (broken out) MS60's or better. The last two I'm looking for are the 32-D and 36-D. I guess that's what drew my attention to this coin in the first place.
