This Susy B I found at work seems to have some extra bits of metal protruding from the rim. It looks as if the metal flowed out of the collar when it was struck. What kind of an error would this be if it is an error at all? The arrows in the picture point to where the extra metal can be seen.

XOG: Is the reeding disturbed? Looks like someone may have held it in pliers, clamped in a vise, hit with a hammer on cement or something else as the area in question is 180 degrees apart. Its probably not extra metal. Each planchet weights the same (APROX) and the metal may have moved from area to another if it is damaged. Be nice to see edge shots of the areas of metal. If you are taking images with a digital camera you can put a wooden clothes pin on the lower edge and make the coin stand upright to take or shot. Smaller coin you can do that under a scope, but that one is too large. The adjustment won't focus, well on my scope. Keep us updated to see what it is. Always nice to know what happened even if it is just worth face value.
