I can't quit tell if its a full head because the pic is a little small but heres a full head to compare it to.  |

The details look very clean, I think it would be worth bidding on. I don't think I would go above EF 40 value for it mainly due to the small pics, but it may be a higher grade.

I'd say at least AU 50, what someone said about small pics is right...
btw, if youre interested, I have a really nice one of the same date/type. I dont collect type sets I just happen to have it

It looks like a nice, original skinned coin. Hard to tell from the small pics whether it would FH or not, but it's real close. What would drive me mad with this coin is the hit on her right breast......it would be the first thing I saw every time I looked at her. Personally, I'd wait for another.  |

I didn't even notice that until you pointed it out hadley...lol. That's why I have you guys. It almost looks like that mark though errr.......kind of belongs! :) (just kidding) Well, I have decided to go with it based on my opinion combined with all of your input. It was a decent BIN price(well below AU) compared to all the others I have seen, and I have been looking for about a month. It overall has a lot of eye appeal to me. The seller also has impeccable feedback, not that that tells the whole story. If it is not full head, it is close to it; which is the way to go IMO if you want to buy a nice piece without paying the FH premium(though I've noticed that most high quality 1917 slq's have a full head as well). I did write the seller a message though to verify that the coin in the picture is the one that will be sold before I pay. I've had several coins get switched on me lately.....very frustrating.

Slightly off topic, do you notice yow plump the right leg of liberty is? It is not so noticeable on worn coin, oh well. ( I am slightly obsessive)

when I was a kid, I used to think that standing Liberty used on the quarter was a dude. Same with the IHC. Even looking at AU/BU coins, I still have a difficult time picturing them as a female. But for this particular quarter, as Hadley pointed out, there is a strong mark upon liberty's exposed breast. If anyone sees it and comments on this mark, I am going to tell them that it came that way from the MINT! The mint was tired of people seeing liberty as a dude, so they decided to make her gender more obvious....  thanks for noticing that hadley  (btw, I'm just kidding) |

Nice Johnny. I'd say it would be FH. I have a 1930 NGC AU53FH. It would be slightly different for a TY.1. I am new to the forums. How do you post photos? Photobucket? Thanks. Dave

vermont. Thanks, and welcome to the forums! I think its interesting that you point out your 1930 NGC AU53FH quarter. I bought a 1930 recently that is in the AU range, and there was some debate as to whether or not it was a FH, I think we decided that it was a near full head. This the one I use for my Type book it one of the 1st coin's I saved money up to buy as teenager it was sold to me 1918/7-S in about 1960 for $35.00 to this day I have not got it graded I guess I don't what to know what it is.or blow a hole in the pass. the man Mr Roy Green who sold it to me gave me a lot of pointer on collecting coins as a teenager *your coin look to have a Full head from the picture & most likely an AU-Bu slider coin and a grading service would note FH or Full head it on the details Image Insert: |

Thanks for the nice words Johnny. I will post a picture of it so you can check it out. How do you post pictures? Photobucket? Yours looks to be about 90% FH due to the strike which is common on the later SLQ's. Still good looking coin from what I can see. I find it pretty scarce to find FH in the low AU's like 50 & 53. I once saw a SLQ, don't recall the date, that was a PCGS graded XF40FH! Now that is pretty rare I imagine.

great thanks vermnont! yeah, the coin is a stunning beauty in real life. Receiving it caused me to fall in love with SLQs, even though I was merely trying to fill a hole in the type set.
wow amac44! You started making wise investments early! Is it a true 18/7?(cant tell from the pic) Congrats!
