I'm curious I have some copper pennies with etched fingerprints. Will These marks fade as the coins turn darker brown? I never see fingerprints on brown pennies. Can you see the fingerprints under magnification? Should I keep these copper pennies or toss them back?

The fingerprints will likely not fade from new coins. You don't see them on circulated coins because of oxidation and the "handling" wear of thousands of dirty fingers.

Pictures as requested. These copper coins have some ugly prints on them. I'm tempted to put them away again if I can't clean them up.

If they are fairly fresh, give them a bath in pure acetone. If that doesn't work, nothing will without damaging the coin.

But I really don't think any of those are worth messing with.

I Already tried acetone. They are definitely etched into the surface. So they are a good example on how not to handle coins. Thanks.
Rest in Peace

It's a shame about the fingerprints, but they really don't look all that bad. If you have better ones and don't need these, then set them free. Otherwise, there's no harm in keeping these until you do get better ones.

If acetone didn't help....nothing else comes to mind.

Just send them back out in circulation!

I guess it would possible to see it unless the finger was rubbed... (In which case the fingerprint will be blurry)
