I'd like to know what folks think about this anepigraphic Helena AE-3.

It looks authentic to me, but fakes are getting good.

The seller offers a lot of scarce coins.

Thanks for your opinions.

I agree the coin looks genuine, I also agree that the forgers are getting real good. This is an excellent example of the type and I wouldn't be surprised to see it go much higher in price.

This seller is on the NFSL and I don't like the looks of many of his offerings. Coins from different eras all with the same patina and surface texture.

I have no idea on the authenticity, but those are pretty amazing surfaces for a metal detector find.

It closed at $445 but apparently the coin did not reach the reserve the seller had in mind, since it is relisted as a "buy it now" rather than a bid auction. Now he wants $999.99 for it, although the "Make Offer" option is available. Any takers? Same guarantees.

Look at where the obverse legend would be. What do you see? It looks like a legend has been removed to me leaving a genuine portrait. I think that the reverse has been obliterated and then what you see here is entirely new.

That's what I see.

I think Maridvnvm is right ,there are traces where the legend has been . Also there is something wrong with the diadem , on other coins with the same reference , there is one all over the head , here only over a part . albert

Now that you mention it I do see where the area on the obverse looks like it has been smoothed out.
