The only error I see is in the title. This is a 1970 S proof in the picture. Doesn't mean you don't have something here. I'm not an error guy. to CCF

The lower right portion of 9 and by nose is flat, shelf-like=MD...as I've said before, proofs struck twice, double the chance for MD. Is why it seems to happen so often on proof coins.

Weren't there circulation strike coins minted in San Francisco until 1971?.....therefore this could be a circulation strike.

I agree, I am seeing a business strike, not a proof. A nice looking one though.

Business strike just means it was minted for everyday use, not a specially minted collector quality coin. It's pocket change. But you don't see many of the old S mints these days.

For being this long since it was made it is in remarkable shape for a circulation find. Has probably been in a hoard or change jar for the past 47 years and just recently got dumped back into circulation. It's not overly valuable, but I know if i'd found it I'd keep it.

If this were a proof coin, that would be called 'flat field doubling' (Another form of Machine Doubling that is associated with die movement of the die.
