Here's part 2... I put it in the older American coins because that describes most of them.

I was going to suggest you continue in the existing topic, but this makes sense.

I edited the title to make that clear.

I dread the day I get my dad's coins, that'll mean he's no longer on this Earth, so hang onto them for a long, long time dad! Thanks for sharing, cherish those coins.
Rest in Peace

I would find out any details that your Dad might remember about finding them. A great batch. I'm very glad to see them carried forward in the family.

The coins are nice but knowing more about how he got them is even better.

The gold ring intrigues me most. Long ago my aunt gave me a gold ring that turned out to be my grandfathers wedding ring. That ring was my most prized possession until I learned how much it meant to my dad. He now proudly displays that ring in his curio cabinet and someday it'll be mine again, hopefully many years from now.

@dapuma, very nice group of coins to add to your collection. If you put them in 2x2s, I recommend that you add a note in an unobtrusive area the source of the coin so that you always remember that it came from your dad. I have done that with some of my coins that came from my grandfather:

I will think about putting them in 2x2s, but it is not of my utmost concern at the moment.
But don't worry. I look through his closet sometimes looking for old coins and electronic junk. He lets me keep any old coin collections from his youth (or before) I find. In part 1 I found 4 boxes full of Canadian silver, in total worth about $12-13k per box. Of course I can't keep that, as it isn't an old coin collection.
