ratio411- right with you! What was the highest denomination bill printed in Germany during their hyper-inflationary period? I would like to get my hands on a 100 million dollar bill. Probably have to wait until it is devalued though. Should not take too long. Is there a word for laughing and crying at the same time?

I agree with those that call for the cent to be minted for collectors only. I would also recommend a design change for the reverse that will last for the next fifty years. Why mess with tradition?

Quote: Why mess with tradition? The new tradition for our mint is to change constantly. Either the folks running the show have serious ADHD, or they count on changes as marketing to keep the sheeple hoarding.

I want them to change the design, and the metal content. Only because I think it's time for a change. Edit: I accidentally double posted, sorry.

It seems to me (my opinion) that to change the composite and keep the Lincoln Cent in circulation is the way to go. With all the profits the US Mint is making from the State Quarters and the Presidential dollars, I think we can afford to keep a significant part of history in our circulation. 2 years now into the Presidential dollar mints and how many do you see in circulation? Just another coin for people to hoard and to keep the local coin shop in business. Don't get me wrong, anything to get a youngster or a new collector involved is great, but to eliminate the Lincoln Cent because of minor cost issues seems a little silly when it is easily being offset from other sources.

I think they will change the reverse again, change the metal, and start minting them ONLY as mint/proof sets, so I say ALL!

I think they should change the design only for 2009 and go back to the memorial reverse but sharpened it up a little. I also think they should change to copper plated steel like Canada uses. John1

I say change composition to aluminum. lighter than steel. We need a change in color other than "red" or "brown". Keep Abe.

I voted to stop minting them........for many reasons....one being...eventually MY pennies will be worth more then!... I agree. The pennies they make now are not looking vary well coming out of the dies anyway. If they made them out of aluminum they would melt allot easier then copper. He He

I'd say the pre-82 composition was better. At least it looks better. Reverse design might be changed, but I'd prefer if Lincoln stayed though.

I say stop minting them. They aren't needed. And Lincoln lovers can take solace in the fact that the values will go up as well as the fact that they can finally complete a set.
