Imagine you've inherited $100K and you have to spend it on your collection. What would you do with that money?

I'd spend 90% of it on good times, questionable relationships and Irish whiskey, but the other 10% I'd probably waste.

It is a possibility for some....who knows if they have wealthy relatives somewhere. I would probably invest it in different areas (stocks, mutual funds, some gold and silver, property, etc). If some people have debt then that would likely be the first thing to do would be to pay it off. If I ever inherit $100,000 or more then I honestly don't know how I would allocate it.

100 thousand dollars in type, including gold.
I'd concentrate on VF 30 or better Flowing Hair and Bust small eagles of all denominations.

I think I would buy my wife a house before she divorces me and takes the one I have. Edit: spend it on my collection? In that case I would donate it all evenly to all the members here on CCF before my wife ends up with two houses

I would buy 100,000 gold-foil covered chocolate coins and put them into a walk-in vault, where I could dive into them like Scrooge McDuck.

I'd buy one truly spectacular coin! (that's a lie - I'd probably complete my various half-finished collections, but as long we're dreaming ...)

Mark1959: Your picture reminds me of Scrooge Mc Duck and his Money Bin! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For $100k? - Probably a high relief $20 St Gaudens.

$100k? Personally, I'd most likely start with an MS64+ Lincoln Cent caps album. Then go from there to.. who knows what, I've always liked the early large cents.

Too early to say. I'd probably scan the auction sites and see what uncommon opportunities are presenting themselves, but I am pretty certain the target would be late 18th to early 19th century US coinage.
