My local dealer has a pretty cool 1932-D Washington quarter in AG condition. I cant find a quote on the coin in that condition. The coin is mine for $85. Is it worth it? +If I purchase the coin I will post pics.

I would save up for a higher grade. Long term it will appreciate more and will be appreciated more.

I am unsure of what kind of budget you have, but it may be worth it for you to save up a little more money and get a higher grade. For a little more money, you can get a Washington quarter in G4. Either way, good luck with your purchase.

The price sounds appropriate for that condition, but as the previous posters above me have noted, if you looking for something very substantial in your condition you may want to save up for a higher grade. An extra 50 bucks may buy a coin in VG condition verses a coin in AG condition. Either way, both coins are going to appreciate, just the higher grades will appreciate at a faster rate than the lower grades. This is a key date after all. But maybe you just need this quarter to fill a hole in your collection and the condition isn't so important to you. Lots of people do that. Like the 1909-S VDB penny or the 1916-D Mercury dime that go for over 700 dollars in just G-4 condition. People will buy a lower grade because higher grades are just not feasible for most. Personally, I would do some research (like what your doing now) to find out if this is really a deal for you. If your looking to invest in coins then hoarding key dates will do it for you.

If you're looking to fill a hole, you can always use it to trade up later in life.

I looked and looked for the 32D and the 32S in a condition I could afford. A lot has to do with eye appeal. I finally got a 32D in Fine and a 32S in very fine. In terms of eye appeal, the one in fine is easily the equal of the one in VF. What I am trying to say, is that in addition to grade, how the coin looks is also important. I have them in an album with the other Washington quarters in conditions ranging from EF to AU. They do not look out of place.

It's a very common coin available in virtually all grades. You'll eventually come to dislike having such a low grade coin in your collection. Save a few extra bucks and get at VF+.
