I agree it looks like a Dryer Coin, the curl on the rim and scratchy detail seem to fit. The major banged area of the rim, I think, was a later hit.
Heat has nothing to do with a Dryer Coin. Seeing as copper takes almost 2K degrees to melt, I hope no dryers get that hot
