Has anyone received the new 2018 Sacagawea coins from the mint?
I'm looking at mine and the quality of the coins is very disappointing.
I understand they have a circulating finish but have never been placed into circulation, but mine are really beat up.

I'm also trying to find out if there are any known errors. I have a couple questionable coins showing a stub thumb on the reverse.

Has anyone else received their coins and are disappointed with the quality? Thanks

Shawn

The quality of dollar coins minted at the Philadelphia mint has been disappointing for years now.

I gave up a long time ago about buying stuff from the mint. I bought a bag of 100 State Quarters. They cam in a mini bag. They were so bad. It looks like the postman must have used the box as a tambourine. They were more damaged than coins found in circulation for a year to two. So I gave up and just pick up OBW rolls of coins.

They look like they've been in a vending machine at a laundromat!

My daughter was raised in Jim Thorpe PA aka Mauch Chunk PA.
I will be grabbing a couple proof PF69 graded examples cheap for that reason, but as far as unc examples go,
they don't do much for me. Usually quite "nicky" on the average.

I gave up collecting dollars and spent them all when the mint decided to remove the date and mint mark from the obverse of the coin. The prez dollars are Chuckie Cheese tokens as far as I'm concerned. The edge lettering is deplorable. I'd rather have the dollars reeded like the SBA's.

Given their size, the edge is the only thing that blind people can use to distinguish dollars from quarters. Smooth edge is best.

The roll and bag NA dollars are not given any special handling. They are coined and run through the same equipment, counting, and bagging equipment that coins intended for circulation go through. So they can receive the same banging up and bag marks as coins you would pick up at the bank.
