I don't like the later ones with proof only issues anyway.
I keep my proofs separate. I think I have enough Gem BU's in duplicate to fill this up without having to buy any nickels but I'll post my update subset in Modern Coins when I get it filled.
I'll post a link to that thread here.
I was going to just buy another War Nickel holder but for twice the money that those cost I got this brand new in the box holder for $50 shipped doing a little haggling.
I don't usually post what I pay for stuff but
for this, I will make an exception. I think that was a good price.

I had one of those years ago and the set looks spectacular against the black background. Best of luck in your fun pursuit.

Wow! That's a beautiful holder! I don't know how to price these but that is great if you say you also got it for a really good price.

I have definitely admired these Capital Plastics holders for awhile now. I think the vintage aspect adds to my enjoyment of the hobby.

I already picked out candidates for holes from 1938 to 1950. I was panicking when I couldn't find any 1939 D nickels, but I finally found three misplaced ones and one REV of 1940 gem was in that group.
My War Nickels all seem to have good steps but are a toned group. Tomorrow, I'll continue on and double check.
It's gonna look pretty neat.

All my duplicates were stored in order. For these early ones, there's not too many to compare to each other.
But in the daylight, I'll look to see if something looks out of place.
I don't think I'll have to hunt down any to fill the holder.

Sounds like you will have to take pics of each one before you place them in the holder.

LOL mcshilling. I'll give that a try. Since they'll be loose, there's no better time to do that.

I got as far as 1957 D last night. Some of my common ones are a little disappointing. When I got to 1958 I had only one not-so-good and a couple that look like they might be proofs or maybe proof-like. One might be a slightly impaired proof. I did run across a number of rpm's.
Today, I'll continue on. I can see this is going to be an obvious contrast of coins. At least my key dates are really nice tho. I can see I'll probably be upgrading a couple at some point, that 1958 situation really bothered me.

Oh my not yet mc ... the holder hasn't even arrived yet. Finished my picking today tho.
I am short a couple easy nice dates. I plan to put them in the holder holes without the top clear plastic on first with the reverses showing with the date below and then take pics. Flip em over and do the same with the obverse showing with the date showing below.
