to the CCF!, If you're talking about the spot to the left of the "C", I'm thinking that's a gas bubble.

Here's a good site to reference lamination errors.

@JB, I agree with @shotgun that I don't see a lamination on this view. For diagnostic purposes, it is super-helpful to know the date of the coin--any chance of you modifying the title of this thread to include the date?

to the Forum! Hahaha! Not laughing at you, just the pic. Reminds me of the first coin I ever posted. Nobody could tell a thing from it!

I soon learned good pics= good answers. A single low intensity light source is best, also experiment with the angle it hits the coin. Hang around here, and it won't take long you'll be a master photographer.

What year is this coin? If it were a lamination, the mark would be incuse. (sunk into the coin)

You should include the date, mintmark, and the denomination in your titles.

Why Topic Titles are Important

The title of your topic is very important. Let's say you need help attributing an 1896 Morgan Dollar....

  • Horrendous: Help!

  • Bad: Need help with coin

  • Better: Need help with Morgan Dollar

  • Good: Need help with 1896 Morgan Dollar

  • Awesome: Need help with VAM on 1896 Morgan Dollar

This enables the members with expertise pertaining to your question to easily find and answer your question. The title of the topic also becomes the title of the topic's web page, which enables us to attract more collectors to the site. The more members we have, the more we learn.
