I'm going to guess that it's in the MS range.. The only expert opinion that I can really give is that it would look great in my collection :^)

This coin easily makes AU-50 and might go AU-55 for detail. The reverse looks original but judging by the washed-out appearance of the obverse I'd say it has been cleaned. The obverse color is too pale and I expect PCGS or NGC would body-bag this coin. The date and the position of the mintmark look OK for a genuine coin, but a close-up is really needed to confirm that the mintmark is the right style. The 1914-D is often counterfeited by adding a D to a 1914 Philadelphia coin.
I'm thinking of buying a '14-D and I will probably only consider PCGS, ANACS, or NGC slabbed examples to ensure authenticity.

Something is wrong with the color in these photos. It looks as though the backgrounds are different in both color and texture. I don't believe the reverse goes with this obverse; looks to be two different coins. The obverse that is shown would be AU 53-55 unless there is "monkey business" going on with the reverse.

That is definately an MS coin IMO. I'd say an MS64, but it has been dipped based on the photos, the mint luster has been dulled. Nonetheless, that's one heck of a nice 14D!

I just posted the rest of the pics available. I'm thinking at some point it was cleaned, but I also think it's MS all the way. Maybe the new pictures will help. Thanks to all who posted thus far..

I'd say AU55 cleaned. Looks like there is a hint of rub in the hair. Without my loupe and coin in hand, just a guess.

Even though pics. are diff. shades, rev. looks pretty evenly shaded. I've seen many coins in the teens that look very similar to this one. Overall I do not think it was cleaned heavily. Maybe a slight wipe years ago. I was also trying to give it an RB but ? I'm picky so I will have to say no on Unc. High AU if color in hand is good. If not med. AU.

No doubt it's MS. The 1914D dies are typically worn, what may look like a rub is just die wear on this coin.

I'd give it a MS63BN.
Worth over $4,000 if the surfaces are original. If it's been cleaned, it was long ago by a professional.

Welp, it just ended for a little over $900. I couldn't convince myself to pull the trigger, plus, it would have been the most I ever spent on one........Just wasn't quite sure about the surfaces....I think someone got one great deal!

Can you take a close up of the date and mintmark? AU58-MS61 -PP

I ask because the 1914D is commonly faked by adding a D to a Philadelphia coin. Looking at the first picture the D doesn't have the right shape. -PP
