About a year ago I was foolhardy enough to send someone on ebay an item before they had paid. I had done the same thing about five times with no trouble but I guess this time I made a mistake. It wasn't TOO high value, about $65 including shipping ( Mercury dime collection, common dates), but the guy didn't pay. I reported him to ebay, who couldn't do anything to reimburse my money because I had done a dumb thing, but closed his account because of non-paying bidder status.

I recently thought about this again and checked. His account is no longer closed. I don't know if this was a mistake or an honest-to-goodness fraud (the latter seems kind of ridiculous, he registered at ebay four years ago, and did all this over sixty bucks?) but I messaged him with a bit of an edge. At the end of my message I said that if he honestly just forgot then he could just pay me and I'd forgive him. I could report him to ebay AGAIN if he doesn't pay up though. Paypal reimbursed me $30 when they legally didn't have to do anything though. So what do you think of this situation? I'm not wrapped up in it any more, I just don't think that if he's really a fraud he should be allowed to be on ebay.
Rest in Peace

Yep, I do. I sincerely doubt they would do anything, though.

If he had made an honest mistake, he would have corrected it and apologized. What does his other feedback look like? Is this a pattern with him or a one time event? If this is something that he does frequently, I'd keep reporting him. Otherwise, I'd chalk it up to a learning experience...

I already learned from that experience a long time ago, I don't really care any more, it's just that he's back. And I don't see his other feedback, at least not now. Maybe it was wiped?

I sell on ebay and block bidders who have 2 negative strikes or more against them for any reason. I also state that if payment is not received within 7 biz days of auctions end, I will leave negative feedback and report them. No exceptions. There is no excuse for not paying for an item. They have the time to bid, then they have time to pay. I don't send any coin until I have received payment.

Now that ebay has eliminated the option for a seller to leave a negative feedback, I'm not so sure that feedback is going to mean anything.
