I just picked this up in the last CNG auction. There was a lot of electrum in the auction, so I was able to get this guy for a good price. Any other electrum collectors out there? Edited by xxmarkabyx 03/09/2018 1:55 pm

Beautiful, well struck and centered with a really cool design - can't go wrong there!
I have one of these on my bucket list, but for the time being, the budget won't allow one. I always go and cruise the electrum listings at the auctions, though!

Very nice! Lesbos hekte are often beautiful, and the style of the sphynx is cool. Probably expensive!

Congratulations on your new acquisition. No electrum coins for me yet, but I have also been looking for years.
The presence of silver in the alloy (natural or man made) gives a barely noticeable greenish tinge, otherwise known as 'green gold'.

Super-nice hecte with well-centered design elements. I think that they must be a little like trying to eat a single potato chip though. Looking forward to your next acquisition!

There are a lot of beautiful electron coins from Mytilene . Here one of mine , on the obverse a laureate head of Apollo , on the reverse the head of Artemis with a spendone in the hair . Much difficult to find are the silver coins . This coins are looking as the electron ones , same sizes . A silver diobolos from 400-300 : obv : head of Apollo , rev: head of Artemis with earring and below lightning . albert

thanks for the kind words, and thanks for sharing your coins, everyone! They're such unique little pieces, I can see really going down the rabbit hole with them. Isn't it amazing that they were able to squeeze in so much detail on such little pieces? And they did it so artistically, as well. Really puts many modern coins to shame.
