I took a chance on a new ebay seller and slightly out-of-focus pictures, but I'm feeling pretty happy that I did. Of course, you all will set me straight if I'm wrong... I think this is a F15, or maybe VF20.

It looks like it's been cleaned. Notice the verdigris still hugging the edges of the devices on the reverse. Color looks too light. vf-details.

It's slightly darker than the pictures show, and the color is nice and even.

Bits of verdigris are often seen in these areas. I'm betting VF-20 straight.

Ya know, I've got a Large Cent date album in the making and I really don't care if they have had an earlier cleaning - I like them and as long as they ain't bright pink copper - who cares what degree of cleaning they had? And verdigras? I though a soak in acetone then Verdi-care takes care of that - you mean we were bamboozled?

You've got a nice Large Cent RubyOpal, whether cleaned or not!

I'm with you, Mark - as long as they aren't weird colors and it looks like the cleaning, if any, took place at least a generation (or two) ago.

I have to admit, I'm a little scared of using VerdiCare, since the directions say to use a toothpick to help get the verdigris off.

Right - I just received a 1797 with G/VG details as it was counterstamped - BUT it's a 1797 with full date - I don't want to hear "CLEANED" of course it was, but it was a long time ago - and who else is actually trying to fill the first page of a Whitman Large Cent album (or ANY page)? _ the ones that say nice pick up NOT the ones saying cleaned!!

!

Unless it's been scrubbed with a brillo pad, what's the point. If these coins in these years have good eye appeal, it's a winner in my book.
