I collected coins as a kid mostly out of pocket change. Did pretty well with Lincoln cents, Jefferson nickels and Roosevelt dimes. I collected again when my kids were younger. But, they never really got interested in coin collecting. Now that I'm an empty nester, I'm looking to get back into it. I recently completed my Lincoln Wheat cents collection. I also completed the Jefferson nickel from 1939 to 960. Trying to decide between Indian Head cents, Buffalo nickels or Mercury dimes next. Leaning towards the Indian Head cents or Buffalo nickels with likely target grade of XF45 from a budget perspective. I know I could probably collect a Franklin half set in MS grade. But, that would likely be less of a challenge.

After seeing several posts in here, the idea of working on 2 sets makes, sense as the likelihood of finding something from either set is better when attending a coin show or going to a local coin shop.

if you keep 50-60 coins in your want list it lets you become familiar with that selection while offering a good chance of finding a coin on a regular basis.
