I'm a new member, trying to show pics of 4 unc. Lincoln cents, with a unique alloy mix. Once I navigate this site, I'll try to post. I think Mike Diamond's assessment would be good, or, any established member of this forum could advise..It's worth a look, very unique Coppercati

Wow, it's good to see that this site is active, and I appreciate the replies. Again, sorry to say, I'm a rookie with online forums, let alone, my wife's new ipad. With the old pc, I could em pics, pretty simple. I have a friend who will visit soon to show me how to post. I took the pics with the ipad, and so, with the advice you 've offered, and my friend, I'll post asap. Thing is, I had amassed a lot of coins for years, and combined them with some inherited collections. Never got to sorting most, just gave them to my daughter, who stowed them. A ton of Lincolns were part of pounds of coins, and now,, it's time to sort them out. Literally an older guy, putting coins away for 50 plus years, and procastinating about looking closer and catagoriizing, I kid you not! Anyway, the 1981 philly roll caught me by surprise. So, I'm a greenhorn,, looking into forums. As I've learned now, lots of collectors,at this site, for a good concensis likely.. Again I appreciate the responses, and will try to post..

Not roller lines and not IMA. Looks like staining from being circulated. John1

Thanks for the help @jbuck! Yes, I agree with @john1 that these coins look to have splotchy surface staining rather than an improper alloy. I do see that the coin in the upper left is a bit brighter than the other three, but this might be an artifact of the lighting.

Thank you Jbuck, and John1, appreciate the favor. The photos do not do the coins justice. I cleaned the two on the left, because I also thought they were stains, or maybe mold. They had a similar tone to the other two. The two on the right are right from the roll. Spence is right, the lighting is a factor, as well as my photo expertise.. I can only say, you'd have to see the coins,. I live in Newark DE, and would gladly show anyone the coins within reasonable distance. I can understand your assessments, based on the pics offered, they look like surface staining, my initial guess, to be honest. But, cleaning and and closer inspection proved otherwise. I 'd respectfully ask you take another look, as to circulation. The pics do attest, looking at the motto, date, rims, etc, they are uncirculated...I mean, look at the lettering anywhere, Bottom left has a few uniform scratches, common to end roll occurence and bagging, etc.. otherwise, no indication of being in circulation... I picked ccf to get an assessment because, hey, a lot of participants, a lot of posts , and, most importantly, forums offer collector's points of view, as opposed to often dismisiing professional "experts". ..I'd still prefer having a fellow man or gal see these Lincolns... How about A pillar nearby, or, if needed, I mail a few to a reccomended supporter. Any referrals near me to show them to? I'm a retired Nam vet, and a man of my word... it's not about over valuing my coins, or making false claims. 1981 is the last full year of the copper penny. Ironically, these are oozing some zinc, and the new cheaper compos are oozing their copper! So, tell me, fellow members who can I trust? I'll show them, even mail them. Let ccf break the news.."Bad sheet roll loaded in Philly", a regular collector and forum members confirm, it happened, in the last full year of the better penny, 1981.. With friendly nature, I invite, john1,, jbuck, anyone, to take another look..Uncirculated? look past the blotchiness, so to speak. Same batch, same OMR, business strikes... Hey, I respect you guys, and appreciate your moderator.. Doing what you do ain't easy
