So we pay a premium to PCGS for a grade and a slab that is suppose to preserve our investment. Do they not stand by by their product. It is obvious to me that this slab is not adequate for this coin. I would contact them and see what they say. I'm curious about their customer service and how they deal with this sort of thing.
I personally would keep it in that slab, vintage slab makes it more appealing to me.

Either this or use it as a poster-child for starting a new multi-million dollar business for certifying the quality of slabbing done by TPGs. A very much needed laugh was had from this post! Thanks

In my experience, their, PCGS's "customer service" is nearly non existent. I expect them to respond with "Well it's only $12 to reholder it" But what do I know and I am also very ticked with them at the moment

I have plenty of gold indians where the rim of the insert does as you described. Seems normal to me!

If you get it re holdered by the same TPGrader, and do not request a re grading, then grading fees should not apply.
You will still have to pay for breaking out of the existing slab and re slabbing, and all shipping fees.
At least, the coin will be shipped in both directions with good protection.

If you consider getting it reholdered you might also want to consider getting it TrueViewed as well. Why? Well, I'm a fan of the service. All of this would be worth it to me because this coin is one of my favorites- a most handsome design!

They wouldn't but the price difference isn't that much for having it regraded and considering that it was graded before plus grades I think I would just do a regrade instead of a reholder

Quote: You can always go for the reholdering but be advised, minimum PCGS charges for shipping is $23, not to mention your shipping and ins, plus there's a $10 handling fee, besides the actual reholdering cost. Its the hidden costs that are the "gotcha!" A common thing nowadays - which is sad. Quote:

This just makes sense really. However; this overlapping inside the slab is something a "Professional" company should/would do something about it if enough people reported it to them.

This is why I suggested working through a LCS. They may absorb some of those costs, especially if they already do bulk submissions, and you don't need your own membership. That may have something to do with why they don't use that style of holder anymore (that, and the new style exposes more of the edge).

Thankfully Bobby let's us store the pics we have posted before One of these days I should take an actual slab, make up the stickers, take pics, and sell it on ebay .

I might - it would be a funny experiment to see what happens. it would be even better with an empty slab!
