That slab is old, and now there's the prongs which show the edges so they did actually do something about it.

Its great when companies listen to customers

Novus Plastic Polish will take all those scratches out. Its such a great product I'm thinking of buying a case of it and getting a table for my son at a local show selling it and polishing slabs, $2 a piece.

Good point.

I might - it would be a funny experiment to see what happens. it would be even better with an empty slab!

The overlapping of the insert on the coin is normal for this generation PCGS slab.

Plast-X will remove the scratches on the slab.

Sort of, was that really something that the market really wanted that whole time?

Well it was something that anyone who collected Pratt gold, or any early date material where seeing the edge was important complained about. To be fair they complained about it with NGC as well. NGC first introduced edge view slabs in 2002, and then a big for the president dollars in 2007. Within about a year they had introduce them to all coin series. PCGS didn't follow suit until early 2007 and just for the president dollars. They didn't follow suit for the rest of the coin series for about another two years.
