Getting it reholdered is an option and not very expensive (only $12 according to their fee structure, plus whatever shipping or handling may apply). You'd get a new label and the three-prong attachment instead of the ring, if either of those make a difference to you.

It's not fake, just slightly aged. Reholdering seems to be the way to go.

I would encourage you to check out the new holders if you haven't already. I was away from collecting for a while and missed the introduction and I think they look really good.

Break it out! Either this or use it as a poster-child for starting a new multi-million dollar business for certifying the quality of slabbing done by TPGs. I agree with the others. If you like it slabbed - just get it redone.

That's great, Earle42! To the OP, get some Novus #2 plastic polish ( https://www.webstaurantstore.com/no...G9wQAvD_BwE) and see if it helps. I just used some today on an OGH and it helped a lot. You can always go for the reholdering but be advised, minimum PCGS charges for shipping is $23, not to mention your shipping and ins, plus there's a $10 handling fee, besides the actual reholdering cost. Yes, PCGS and NGC slabs are subject to scuffs, scratches, hazing, and chipping.

Also, before you can submit a coin for reholdering, you'd need to join the PCGS club which is a minimum $69.

If you take this to a local shop, some of those fees would be absorbed by the shop. I took two slabs in for PCGS reholdering a few months ago; shop charged me only $25 for the pair.

That's great, Alpha2814. I tried that myself but my lcs refused. He said I'd have to pay all the above fees plus an additional $5 per coin for him. Only thing he'd save me was the fee for joining the club.

See if another local will do it for you (if there is one). The first time I went into my local shop the dealer offered to send anything I wanted slabbed in with his orders.

Pratt's indian head quarter and half eagles did not have rims and the lettering went right up to the edge of the coins. The soft rings of the PCGS holders typically overlaps the rim on most coins, but since this design doesn't have a rim, it overlaps the lettering. So it it is normal, and aggravating.
