My first post here, it's great to see a forum like this.
To date, thank God, I have had great dealings on
ebay regarding coin purchases, and that's maybe because of what and how I purchase.
For about a year and a half, I've been getting real leery about the economy in general, the sub-prime mess, a dollar (paper) that I don't trust, banks which I trust even less, and about four or five months ago, I started "shifting" bank savings into purchasing pre-65 rolls of silver currency, as well as rolls of silver American Eagles.
I've mostly been a buyer of rolls of 64
Kennedy halves,
Franklin halves, pre-65
Roosevelt dimes, and
Mercury dimes. I only bid on rolls that are UNC, and AU/BU, and I only do business with sellers that have 100% positives. I also read thru their feedback, as you can "read between the lines", and get a gut feeling, who you should not be doing business with. I guess I've been lucky and blessed.
I'm buying these coins as currency, rather than nusimatically, though I have prime interest in nusimatics. I just want to buy all my currency before I start trading nusimatics.
I said all that to say this, I do believe that
ebay is letting their brand and their business model go to the dogs. Maybe they got too big too fast, and cant handle, or dont want to handle the requirements of maintaining a fair transparent auction site. As many of you might know, the stock market is in bad shape, and I believe that if you want to vote with your wallet,
ebay which is trading today at $27.11 a share is an excellent stock to sell short. I'll tell you why, their price to earnings ratio sits at a crazily inflated 86.06, and sooner or later, all of the bad blood will come to fore, and before you know it
ebay will be trading at $5 or less a share. Forumite's that's not a trade reccomendation, just my thoughts.
Tell you what though, there is nothing more purty than getting a picture perfect roll of bright shiny
Franklin half dollars that you paid a $20 premium over melt value. I know I could have them appraised and peddle them off nusimatically, but I believe silver's going to $50 to $100 an ounce, so I'm holding.
Thanks for reading my first post here, and safe trading to you all.
