Look at pic # 6 - looks like the metal split from the rim- no die chip.

Definitely damage on the Merc and not a Cud IMO since there is an indent on the rim edge which I associate with post-mint tinkering. Cud should have a full unscathed rim I believe if it were mint-made. The half looks like damage to the rim as well and not a chip, since an equivalent amount of metal is missing from the rim.

Looks like a solder job out of the holder. That might account for the rainbow toning. Heat from the soldering?
