My thoughts are that a lot of grandpa's coin collections are buying gas. But congratulations to you for the re-rescue.

 With the others! What a remarkable find in change! I'd be going back to that gas station with singles and buying one piece of candy at a time.

Nice score! I like the XF49 grade above. I received a 1919 XF40-45 from Rita's Italian ice in change about 5 years ago.. Right across the street from a good size university

Interesting die washout left wheat and great looking obverse for the age and especially where found.

It obviously has not circulated much. Probably spent most of it's life in a jar of old coins, or perhaps maybe in a collection, that has since been broken up.
