I'd say Abe was tucked away for a long time but was put back in to circulation.

My thoughts are that a lot of grandpa's coin collections are buying gas. But congratulations to you for the re-rescue.

Nice score! I like the XF49 grade above. I received a 1919 XF40-45 from Rita's Italian ice in change about 5 years ago.. Right across the street from a good size university

It obviously has not circulated much.
Probably spent most of it's life in a jar of old coins, or perhaps maybe in a collection, that has since been broken up.
