It was $175, so a little over, but such an oddball coin it was hard to resist.
It weighs exactly what a US $2 gold piece would weigh if there were such a thing. Two hundred US cents, just like it says.

thq, I'm really glad you posted that coin, since I never knew there was a $2 gold coin from Newfoundland (I have a pretty common 50 cent piece and a couple of coppers) Quote: I do have an 1832 Capped Bust Half Dime that looks like it had a hole repaired. Have no recollection what I paid for it though. I can post pics if you'd like chafemaster, Sure! If it's a coin, we'd love to see it! Here's my next one. Sardinia (Italy) 25 centesimi 1833. This is a small coin, a little larger than a U.S. dime, if I recall correctly. You can see the hole is so big and nasty in relation to the size of the coin that it deformed the coin shape out of round. Still, it sold for considerably above melt. Guesses? (BTW, I think the profile of the guy on the coin looks an awful lot like Bill Clinton)

..online this Sardinia coin sells for between $100 to $200 considering its condition and the big hole it the coin I would estimate a price of between $20 and $40 Squire PS. as an "addendum" to my holed Hamburg coin presented earlier I have attached a picture of some of the other "Hamburgers" in my collection What surprised me is how wafer thin the coins are . It would take a lot to fill a purse with these.

Seeing how many of your "Hamburgers" fit in your hand, I was about to make a joke about White Castle, but then realized you aren't in the U.S. (WHite Castle is a U.S. fast food franchise that makes hamburgers that are not much larger than a 2 x 2, and are also quite thin).

... interesting observation tdziemia In Australia there are of course also international franchises that sell hamburgers. Some would present the burgers in styrofoam containers. Initially and a long time ago the burgers would jump out at you when you opened the container. Later I observed that the burgers were often hiding in the corners whenever I opened my meal container. Happily the burger franchises came up with the perfect solution to solve this dilemma. They commenced to wrap the burgers in wrapping paper as they continued to downsize the ration. Now some burgers are the size of large biscuits. On the other hand the corresponding price of these has not reduced... But I digress. How is $40 to $50 as an estimate for your Bill Clinton coin from Sardinia?

White Castles are sold in little sleeves made of coated recycled board. They are the first burger I know of that was labeled as being a slider. A meal is 3-6 of them.
Those old hammered coins gave the illusion of being bigger than they really are, because they are so thin. My pragergroschens weigh about 3 g, but are as big in diameter as a US half dollar weighing 3x as much. The English coins are a little thicker but not by much.

I live in the ancestral home of White Castle. Not exactly what drew me here Quote: How is $40 to $50 as an estimate for your Bill Clinton coin from Sardinia? The earlier guess was closer. It sold for $16. Probably one of the few I've sold that went lower than expected.

I have had this 1810 (almost) holed Half Cent for maybe two years now. What do you all guess what I paid for it?

I was told once at a wedding that perhaps Jesus brought me to Columbus. I have my doubts. The problem with this thread... I think a lot of people really don't even know what an UNHOLED example of the coins in question should bring. Quote: White Castle... A meal is 3-6 of them. Lost a little off the ol' fastball, eh?

Quote: I was told once at a wedding that perhaps Jesus brought me to Columbus. I have my doubts. I think football and employment bring most people here. Though for me, it was a woman. White Castle and Wendy's (also born here) are not the best there is to offer. Nor is Buckeye football. Quote: The problem with this thread... I think a lot of people really don't even know what an UNHOLED example of the coins in question should bring. For people like me who are not wide ranging omnivorous collectors, but are willing to do a bit of research, there is ebay, coinarchives and so on, that give a range for the current market value of the unholed coin. Maybe there's a better way?

To keep this thread moving ... Any other guesses on slav's holed 1810 Half Cent? We have one guess of $5 at this point. And thq, were you fishing for guesses on your Guatemala 1R?
