I found two pennies that are gold colored, make that three. All three are 1983Philadelphia minted. Can anyone tell me why they are this color? I'm stumped.

I"ll have to upload the obverse in another post, I can't get it to upload on this one.

Here's the obverse. Sorry, my dogs were arguing, I had to get them distracted.

The coins look to have a matte finish, I don't think it's showing up in the photos.

thank you

Coloration most probably due to type of environmental exposure.

1983 is one of the years where brass plating is more common so likely it is one of those. I saw a B/U roll of 1983's that had 3 of those in it and boy do they stand out.

Thank you

I'm learning something new every time I come to the website. Now I can throw those back into the pond.

Thank you all, very much.

Ken Potter sells those 1983 brass plated coins in MS-64 condition for $25 a pop. You may wish to keep them. I certainly do.
