I have 1982 d small date that weigh 2.5g and some that weigh 3.0g and some 1983's that weigh 3.0g. I've heard about the 3.1g but not the 3.0g is there a difference?

If you have an 83 @ 3.0gr, you have a WINNER!....but I highly doubt that and you'd need to put you money where your mouth is an prove it.

@Nicholas1022, it would be interesting to see pics of your 3.0g '83s. Any chance of you posting pics?

If you have either a 1982D SD or 1983 of any kind that weighs 3.0g, then it's a winner! However, we will need a clearer explanation of what you have and pics would be greatly appreciated.

Very interesting find! I was wondering if you can post full and cropped pictures of the obverse, reverse, and the edge of the coin. Also, a normal weight 1983 D Lincoln Memorial cent for comparison in pictures would be great also.

Put a BU pre 1981 on your scale to see what weight it shows.

with the suggestions of a comparison. It has the look of a zinc cent, but better pictures are needed.

I have a small scale for this purpose. I have to reset it sometimes because it gets .2G to .3G off. Your scale might be more stable but it might be something to consider.

First off, isn't the coin supposed to be weighed in the middle? And do you press tare before you place the coin in the middle of the weighing platform? Then grab a 70's coin and see how that weighs. I would weigh that coin multiplie times if I were you just to make sure you getting correct readings.

I've weighed it on 3 scales and they all say 3.0g. I put the penny on the edge of the scale so both date and weight were in the pic. I'm still skeptical about it also.
