Oh boy! I'm not sure what caused this Post Mint Damage, but it is very interesting. I'll take a guess on it, maybe heat from a fire?

@CV, it looks to me like the rev is fine, but I'm trying to understand your pic of the obv. Has the copper plating been stripped away leaving just the zinc core or is this pic in black and white?

Plating layer seems stripped off somehow, doesn't look like a B/W pic.

Opps! This one is completely stripped & a few other things I found strange.. The groove on rim and the weird thing is it's larger in diameter than a normal cent? as you can see from the photo. I placed a random penny on top

Texas Cent? Looks like the coin was placed between two pieces of leather, and hit hard with a big hammer. That makes the plating fall off the coin as it is stretched larger than the plating.

Texas Cent sure makes sense Sometimes, coins found in metal detecting get cleaned in chemicals. Any bent coin get a whack to make it flat..

Awesome explanation and picture coop: Zinc Penny Spec Metal Composition: 97.5% Zinc - 2.5% Copper Diameter: 19 mm Mass / Weight: 2.5 grams Everything is bigger in Texas -- maybe a little thinner.
