That is a real interesting Error Geo211

There are others here better with these than me and maybe coop will drop in - he is sharp.

By the way to CCF

Also can you post a picture of the Reverse of that coin it would be helpful to fully understand the type of error. E.g., there is more going on than just a possible Cud: http://www.error-ref.com/rim-to-rim-cud/ It also appears to have been hit again in the die.

@Geo211, first welcome to CCF. Second, I agree that having a pic of the other side of the coin could be useful. For the moment, it looks to me like someone has applied solder to Washington's portrait and then pressed another coin into that wad of extra metal. If so, then the question isn't so much whether your quarter is real vs. fake, it is that has been damaged by someone in an attempt to make it look like a mint error.

I'm leaning towards PMD (Post Mint Damage), especially because there seem to be some incuse letters in the blob of metal on the obverse. Incuse usually means PMD. However, larger pics of both reverse and obverse would help.

Something seems out of place. Reverse image and weight if possible. Thanks, Doug.

I was also thinking maybe some type of Greasy Ghost but then you see the other weird lettering and what appears to be coin rim(s) impressions in it? Weird.

This is one for coop for sure and still would need a Reverse Picture which would be helpful.
