Very nice. I still need to find me a double die. I'm still having a hard time understanding them. I need to find one so I can compare em. Again congrats on your find.

If this is in deed a DDO, it will be my first ever :)

It looks like a DDO to me but I'm the last person to know what a double die looks like on here. I'm far from an expert on these type of coins. I still got lots to learn especially since I only started collecting error coins this yr.

I found the one a few months ago and that one looks the same. I believe you found a DDO FS# 1 -035.2 Nice find

There are several listed on coppercoins.com/ Looks similar to this one: http://coppercoins.com/lincoln/dies...ie_state=edsBut the mention of a reverse DD concerns me. The ones listed don't mention that. That other dies may have been matched up with this obverse in later die states. Looks interesting though. The biggest difference I see on your coin and the one listed on copperscoins.com/ is the absence of the notching on the lower LIBERTY. So we will have to see what Chuck says about yours.

coop, when I said "it's on obverse and reverse", it was in reply madzdad, indicating that DDs are found on both the reverse AND obverse of 1983Ps. My coin pictured does not have a DDR :)

At last count, there are at least 8 different DDOs and 2 DDRs on 1983 Lincoln cents. Some of which were my discoveries a few years ago.
Have Fun, Bill

madzdad71 - This should prove to be an important lesson...don't only look for die varieties you've heard about. You're missing over 75% of them this way. The correct way to hunt for die varieties is to know the design and what it normally looks like, know and understand Machine Doubling, then look for anything that's not Machine Doubling that still doesn't look right.

Darn it....I had thought it was DDR only so I never paid attention to the obverse. Oh well, I better start doing that going forward. The coppercoins.com site is a great resource that I need to look through.
