Strange, what grade would you give this? I think it'd be very very high but it's actual grade is lower than I thought.

The buffalo reverse looks very good, IMO. Complete coverage of the fur, rib striations etc. What do I know though? Not much I guess.

Now that's a Buffalo...full strike, beautifully toned, strong luster...I can't see this any lower than a MS64, and wouldn't be shocked at MS65.

I am gonna go out on a limb. It being a new die and design, it should probably have good detail in the tied part of the ribbon but it looks like it just might be lightly rubbed there and in the hair above it. The horn looks ever so slightly flat and also maybe light rubbing on the top in that thick hair above the front shoulder.
So because you say it was graded lower, I am gonna guess this dandy Buffalo key date is AU58.
If it is MS, and not a slider, then I'd say it's MS64.

This was an au55. PCGS. Went for $671. That is probably rich for au55 so maybe people thought more of it. That's pretty much a perfect buffalo. The ebay # is 263603623114 if that helps look it up.
Rest in Peace

PCGS did not like something about this Buff when they had "in hand".

Maybe the discoloration? Dipped coin?

I like the coin and believe the TPG got the grade right. Horn is slightly flat and tail is not split. Couple rim bumps of the OBV and REV rims.
