Please provide an enlarged photo of the reverse, just as you did for the obverse. In the meantime, I must voice my strong suspicion that this is a case of post-strike damage. The normal weight and the smooth, flat surface opposite the roughened area on the obverse are fully consistent with this diagnosis.

Now it looks damaged. Especially that D in United. You can see exposed zinc. It also looks like everything is smushed down. I think damage now

From my short time here it's very obvious mr diamond is very well respected and his conclusions are definitive,I'm a little honored he looked at one of my coins I found
