I bought this coin several years ago and had it marked as RIC 216, but today I noticed the C in the obverse legend and realized that it's actually RIC 215. Struck in Siscia, with the mintmark T. I thought it was silvered, but Wildwinds says it's tinned. I haven't heard of other tinned Roman coins, and other sources give conflicting information for this type. The plating (which is intact- the color of the pictures is off) does look more like tin than silver. Does anyone know the answer, or if tin was commonly used in general?
