I try to buy coins only with original surfaces, but then comes the type of tarnish/toning oxidizing pattern. There may be someone out there who will pay you $25 - that is subjective. If you have never dipped a coin (I never have), read all of the above recommendations before doing so. Plus there is the cost of the dip. If it's your idea of having fun - go for it - cheap entertainment
Looks like a common date AU Peace dollar with fairly unattractive toning. Not worth the grading fees, and although I'm a proponent of originality this particular coins most likely future is to be melted for silver value. A good candidate for experimentation.
