http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...310051459298Unfortunately I don't have gray sheet with me, but I did see a PCGS AU55 sell on Heritage for $400. I was a bit scetchy because ususally BIN coins on ebay are way overpriced. Notice the filled 6, it looks to me like a die break. My eyes can't see what the seller claims to be doubling on the united. I know next to nothing about errors, so perhaps someone can interpret those things. I'm not a big Indian cent guru, but I (think) this one is considered semi-key? In that case, are these minor errors considered a negative? I personally like them but I also like resaleability. ebay sent me a 10% off coupon, so the overall price will be $346.50 plus a few bucks for shipping. Being brutally honest, please give me your opinion on how I did pricewise. Thanks! Sean

Nice coin! The price seems reasonable as Rick Snow's retail price sheet lists AU55 at $400. However, I think the die break through the date would bring up collector interest--and value. That's a great place for a break! The "doubling" in UNITED is nothing more than "Longacre outlines", and happpens to many IHCs up to 1886.

Nice coin! Good price too I'd say. I'm waiting for a couple of Snow's books. Can't wait!

m9, can you tell me about this book? My subscription to gray sheet ran out and I'm going to re-subscribe when I get back to Bragg.

I'm no IHC guru either, I'm starting to get hooked on em though. Lots of variety, sort of affordable, great history, well documented, nice look.

now comes the hard part: Cherrypick the L as a regular one.
Yes, it can be done, I have cherried nine of them so far, including one, recently, a VF-30 (my grade) with a 1902 in VG for the massive sum of $46.52.
so, yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus, if you know what you are looking for.

On the reverse at about 11:00, is that a notch missing from the edge? Or is that something wacky with the picture? I don't see the same on the bottom side of the obverse.

mklpatrick, that's a tiny flake of plastic from the slab. Also, I'm selling this one already from what I paid. I thought there was a slot in my type set for the 64-L, but there's not. I was going to crack it out and put it in there.

Oh yeah I see...guess my depth perception is off. How do you store your set?

It's a Dansco type set (I think) 7070. I love the coin but I'm disappointed that I paid for an L when I didn't need to. They have a slot for a "VDB Lincoln", so I just assumed they had one for the "L Indian." I would have much rather spent the money on two nice common dates or a tougher type coin.
