I've got a few wooden nickels and a wooden medal over 3 inches in diameter and it doesn't look like anybody makes capsules anywhere near that large. I've also got a Paraguay casino chip that's 2.5x4.25 inches across.

Does anybody have any advice on how to store such big numismatic items? It doesn't look like they make capsules anywhere near large enough and the casino chip is too thick to treat as currency.

(Lighthouse XL holders are too small, they only go up to 58 mm and the biggest I've got is 79.)

I have a similar situation and just bought (25) 3 1/2" x 3 1/2" x 1 inch jewelry boxes that have cotton inside for a measley $15.47 shipped. I think I could have gotten them cheaper if I looked around. A lot of big medals come in boxes like this anyway. A PVC safe baggie could be used to store them inside resting on the cotton as well.
See where I got mine. There are various sizes in the drop down choices.

I'll post a picture of my boxes here when they arrive.

I also have a collection of large medals that I'd love to have a way to store and be able to see. Thanks for the post Nautilator. A question I have but never thought to ask.

Maybe that big casino chip would fit in something like this? https://www.amazon.com/Challenge-Me...pd_sim_201_2

Granted it's more for display purposes than storage but maybe there's something among the related items that's closer to what you're looking for.

Oh, they make capsules and holders for anything. I have an NGC medal and the holder is 4x6 inches.

Storage: A PVC safe baggie.

Display: After researching multiple specialized numismatic supply type companies and becoming frustrated by their pricing, lack of aesthetically pleasing and custom solutions, along with the inconvenience of dealing with a company that is not near me I found myself in a Michael's chain craft mega-store bored out of my mind. While walking to the yarn section in order to fashion a noose to end the agonizing boredom I stopped at the counter of the Framing Department.

I'm glad I did. After explaining what I was seeking to accomplish (in regards to displaying coins) they had all kinds of awesome solutions and at all kinds of different price points. They will work hand in hand with you, and they are near where I live. The kind employee said many, many numismatics utilize their services.

Just a follow-up

Very pleased with the boxes that arrived that I posted about above.
I can fit a 5 oz Ozark riverways in the big capsule in it nicely.
I made a mini set of different Riverways. Silver Proof, Clad Proof, P D & S uncs and enhanced and all this fits just fine in the box.
I also will write on the box as to what is inside.

Advice-On-Storing-Really-Large-Items?
I have several other large items I will be storing in these as well as a couple special slabbed coins.
