when you go to a 3rd world country and in general, anything that someone peddles to you, most likely is 99.99% fake.

It references a Bactrian tetradrachm of Eukratides I.

@Wklinger64, first welcome to CCF. Second, better pics (especially in focus and cropped to maximize those pixels) might help us to determine for sure on fake vs. real. Also, any chance of getting a pic of the edge?

to the community I would agree that this is not a genuine example of the type. It is typical what would be found in tourist marked places.

It's a copy of a valuable commemorative coin issued by the Greco-Bactrian King Eucratides, showing his father Heliokles and mother Laodice on the obverse and himself on the reverse. As the kingdom of Eucratides was centered in the northern parts of Afghanistan (Bactria), his coins are the frequent target of Afghan forgers hoping to make a quick buck.

A little too pixelated to see if a parting line along the edge has been removed, but were these Bactrian coins normally struck in such high relief?

Compare the coin to this genuine example, it's a somewhat decent fake but the lack of detail on the hair gives it away as a fake when compared to the genuine example
