Look at the 8 in a 2018 and you see something wrong there. What could that be? I like looking for error coins...maybe this is a good find since its a new coin? Any ideas?

Called a "zinc zit", a plating bubble caused by zinc corrosive rot underneath the copper plating, very common when the edges of the devices are split when made.

It's a die chip
Probably going to be quite common this year

Can't see the 8 well enough to determine if it's a bubble in the plating or a die chip.

And did you notice they made this coin sideways? I wonder if the Mint could make them right side up?
Still just looks like dirt but could be a blob in the metal.

It is from a broken post. The post broke off some much into the die, it is now above the opening of the '8':

Is that a good thing for the coin then? Is this a keeper?

Coinguy, it's a "learner", certainly makes it a "keeper" in my book.

I enlarged the date and sharpened the pic a bit.

It looks to me like there is a bubble in addition to whatever lies beneath the bubble. Is there any way to see a higher resolution shot of the date?

If the plating was split, that could make the bubble there. If oxygen gets to the zinc, its reacts.
