Hope I'm in the right section for this... So I have what my deceased uncle says is an "2.50 gold piece". Bad news, the front side has been worn down to a blank side. The reverse however is still in a poor-enough condition to view the lettering and image. What brought me here is that the reverse side clearly shows 2 50 at the bottom of the coin, not the 2 1/2 that is on all types of 2.50 gold pieces that I could find. Does anyone know of any other gold pieces which has "2 50" on reverse rather than the "2 1/2"? For an similar image of the reverse, please see the picture below: Minus the latin moto and the 2 1/2 being replaced by 2 50, that seems to match up pretty good. Below is a link to the best picture I can do of the coin: https://ibb.co/m4CfJ8Thanks for the help!

Thanks for the wecome! Does that help? Not sure how cropping a full image will help? Are you asking me to crop and resize sections of the full image?

100% fake. No $2.5 gold coin has ever had 2.50 on the back. All $2.5 gold except the very first always had fractions on the back like this 2 1/2 Dollars. It may be gold but I am doubtful. It is a counterfeit. Look on PCGS coinfacts at all $2.5 gold designs on the back and none of them will show what you see on your example.

To echo other's statements, it does not even look like gold-more like brass.

It's not gold. Waste no more time on this crummy token.

It appears to be a token, possibly play money. Definitely not a gold piece. to the CCF!
