Upon receiving this in the mail I noticed the obverse was smudged up. I gave it an 18 hour acetone soaking and some stuff came off but it still needs some love. What would be my next steps?

Here's what it looked like out of the mail.

On copper Verdi-Care works good but not sure on gold plated, but I would try it.

If you're not afraid of damaging it I would give it a quick dip in eZest coin cleaner.

Just try some regular jewelry cleaner from Walmart. Nothing to loose.

Since I don't have VerdiCare or eZest handy I like the jewelry cleaner idea being what the coin is. Thanks JustCarl.

Just remember, the plating is probably VERY thin and any rubbing will very likely go through the plating and you'll get to the copper.

Maybe I'll just dip it in the jewelry cleaner and rinse it with acetone. Thanks for the heads up Kanga.

Here it is after a 30 second dip in jewelry cleaner. Water rinse then acetone. I'm going to leave well enough alone. Sorry for the red reflection I'm wearing a red shirt.

Thanks for all the advice.
