I moved your post to the appropriate section for the proper attention.

And here is the CCF Free Image Optimizer to help crop your images.

To me it looks like it was dipped in Tarn-X, no luster at all.

Thanks for the rotate info.
Thanks. I suspect in 141 years it has been dipped in quite a few things.

My comment is that the dime has been harshly cleaned. A good lesson is for you to Go to a coin shop or coin show and compare a similar dime in more original condition. This dime series of seated liberty is a great series for you to collect. It was a very important coin used a lot in its time.

Thank you. You guys or girls know way more than I do. Who cleans coins? Although I suppose they can be fairly nasty.#128516;

Many in the 1970's thought that blast white silver was what is collectable. When you clean with a chemical, it may remove the dirt and grime, but it removes a layer of metal. This layer is what makes a coins' Luster, or a Patina on it that means it is in an original state. These are what collectors, serious ones shoot for. I call it a "good skin", a natural progression of developing a toning according to circulation (if any), exposure to the elements and storage.
