That is pretty cool. I just went through Laramie last summer... If I go that way again, I'm going to stop there...

That's some high quality detailed workmanship. Very nice.
I've seen others around the size of a quarter. They are popular with token collectors. Token dealers have them made to help advertise their businesses and they usually offer $1 off or something similiar. Token collectors call them "good fors".
I wanna say the one I have was made by a company called Penny Press Mint out of Utah probably 10 or 15 years ago.
I'll try to dig it up out of my token box and post a pic of it.

That was far more common in the early days of coin collecting. Those early pieces are quite a collectible now.
The dollar size is something that I have not seen before.

Here are two old coin shop advertisement "wooden nickels": Wooden Nickel - Richmond Coin Shop, Richmond, California (1959) Wooden Nickel - Burma Road Coin Shop, Walnut Creek, California (1990's) Both of these establishments no longer exist.

Thanks for the feedback. I recall having one of those "wooden nickels" but who knows where it went. Here's a quick comparison photo, size and thickness of an Ike. The shop has loads of Morgans, Peace, walking & standing liberties, pocket watches, old flags, gas station memorabilia, Franklins, Ikes, the usual stuff I guess. From what I gather, the owner sold a car dealership and opened this shop, so it sounds like more of a hobby than a money-maker. I overpaid for the Ike but figured I was tipping him ten bucks or so for the great burger recommendation (mtuma3 - The Library) and exchanging knowledge with my brother about pocket watches. If you're ever in Laramie, head to the "old town" and spend some time, particularly if you're into trains. We do a standard visitor loop from here to Ames Monument (highest point on transcontinental railroad), Vedauwoo State Park, Laramie. Shameless plug.
