That's a purty set you got going there!

Nice! For the 1938, I would go with the one on the left, just for the color. They seem to be very close in grade from what I can tell.

Excellent set to collect.
Congrats on the upgrades. I am always torn between blast white or the multiple levels of champagne toning the nickels might have naturally toned to over the years.

Quote: I am always torn between blast white or the multiple levels of champagne toning the nickels might have naturally toned to over the years. I agree and have many levels of toned coins in my album. There are cases in which I may make concessions for a slightly lower grade for a dramatically more white coin. Another consideration is what the coins look like on either side of it. I guess you could give each one a shot in the album and gauge your opinion over time when viewing the page.

Not a Jefferson person but I would pick both coins on the right. Both to me are higher grade (clearly the 38-D is) and I think they would look awesome next to each other. If you could find a better 38-S with similar color, even better. If you're looking for all the same nickel tone, then that's a different story, but to me that's boring. You do say "upgrading to BU" and clearly the left coins are not. Edit: I totally misunderstood that the ones on the left are your existing coins.

Well done. A fun series with nothing ridiculous for prices (if you can live without some FS).
Nice to see your approach. You've learned the series and now you can select superior eye appeal examples.

The ones on the right seem like a good match.

Thanks for your opinions. I added them to the album to see how they look and the one on the right looks the best in that row.

Nice! The 38-S can't be the same in both pictures!
