Thanks in advance for looking at this post. I found a 1940-D Mercury dime with strong doubling. I can't seem to find it in any of the books. I have attached the best picture my phone can take. The date and the 'LIBE' in Liberty and even left of the wings on the head details show doubling. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

I believe that is MD, not a doubled die.

This would also fit better in Classic US Varieties & errors.

A Mercury dime is considered a classic coin, so I moved your post to the appropriate section for the proper attention.

To CCF! That's Machine Doubling, not a Doubled Die Obverse. The devices have been reduced in size and it's shelflike in appearance. http://www.error-ref.com/machine-doubling/

Thanks! I have got a lot to learn. I even had a couple coin shops look at it. So I guess for a MD, it probably isn't pronounced enough? Are they worth anything more than being a Mercury dime?
