today and tomorrow I post a few jetons testifying events during the
War of Devolution (1667-1668) when France under Louis XIV tried to expand territories at the expense of the Spanish Habsburg empire
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/War_of_Devolution

My jetons relate to the Spanish Netherlands (currently French Flanders and Walloon provinces of Belgium). Today we see the French side of the story, the conquest of territories and fortifying strongholds (by the famous engineer Vauban); example here fortifications of the city of Tournai (Doornik).

1668 Dugn.4252
OBV: King Louis XIV - legend: AMOR LUDOVICI XIIII REG FRAN NOBIS PALLADIUM
REV: God Mars in the citadel of Tournai - legend: NON MARS NON ALTER ULISSES 1668 TURNACUM
