Yet one more great creative way to enjoy our hobby. I love the idea. Some folks have even tried assembling an every decade or every year set. But they must have inexhaustible time and money.
Your approach is one that everyone could try.
Love all of the coins you've selected thus far. I'd hope you can find as many different styles, metal content, and place of issue as you possibly can.

Neat idea for a collecting focus, and nice coins all. I would find it very difficult to decide which one coin, from all the great possibilities, should represent a particular century.

Thank you all for the interest! I got the idea from folks on this board.
I definitly have much research ahead of me. I always shied away from ancients because I thought they were ALL crazy expensive. Boy did I have a misunderstanding there.
The interesting thing, to me, about this set is that I could put this together 100 times and get 100 completely different sets. Lol

@Half, how are you selecting the coin for each century? Something of historical significance, or just what happens to be available, or something in-between?

Congratulations so far, and best wishes on further endeavors. You are doing better than I am ! 2nd and 1st cent BC can be filled with Greek, Celtic, Roman Republic Roman Colonial Chinese or Indian coins, 8th and 9th cent AD can be filled with Byzantine, Islamic, Chinese or Indian coins. European coins of this period harder to find. Next step is to expand by filling appropriate centuries with coins of other cultures of the same period. That is another form of OFEC: One From Every Culture. Along the way, you will end up attaining a good indicative general knowledge of World history, covering the last 26 centuries. You will also probably end up with a nice numismatic library, with supporting books on World history and geography. Although my collection is mainly in silver, I have attempted to have all three coinage metals represented.

Thank you guys for the kind words!
No kidding on the library. I already have the Cast Chinese cash coins 2nd ed, Early Japanese coins and A guide to cash coins by David Hartill as well as Punchmarked Coinage of the Indian Subcontinent revised edition by P L Gupta & T R Hardaker.
So much to learn but it is so interesting. lol I have barely even opened the Mauryan yet.
Now greek and roman coins.......they scary.

The remaining BC's will be fun to seek but, I would think, hard to decide on.
